Milford Little League Play Ball

The moment we have all been patiently and safely waiting for after these long and arduous months has finally arrived.  Milford Little League is proud to announce that Softball and Baseball has finally arrived for our community.  The Milford Little League executive and extended board have been working arduously with the City of Milford over the last few weeks to ensure that all the parts and pieces are in place to allow our athletes to PLAY BALL.

Safety:
First and foremost with everything we do we would like to address how our league will keep our athletes, fans, families and friends safe during these times. We have tailored our own guidelines, which meet and in some ways exceed the state guidelines published which governs youth sports.  We are currently working with the Milford Health Department to ensure that we have covered all the bases and seeking their approval.  This is currently a living document as we are undergoing the approval process. A copy of our guidelines can be found here: https://dt5602vnjxv0c.cloudfront.net/portals/28539/docs/reopenplan.pdf

Our Season:
Prior to the June 17th projected phase 2 reopening date, the coaches in the various divisions will safely meet and draft teams based upon collective evaluation data.  Players will not need to participate in an evaluation process.

After June 17th teams can begin practices and batting practices in preparation for the season.

Monday July 6th will be the first full day of games with play ending for the Summer season on Saturday August 29th.

There will be no standings or playoffs this season.  Gameplay will be casual with a strong focus on learning and allowing players to experience all positions.

What to expect:
T-Ball: There will be one game a week and all games will all be held on Saturday mornings.  We will ask coaches to schedule one practice a week, but can be excused during hot days.

Coach Pitch: Players in this division can expect up to two games a week with at least one practice and/or batting practice a week.

Farms: Players in this division can expect two games a week with at least one practice and one batting practice a week.

Majors: Players in this division can expect two games a week with at least one practice and one batting practice a week.

Intermediate/Juniors: Players in this division can expect multiple games a week and possibly double headers on weekends with practices and batting practices on off days.

All Stars:
Milford Little League is working with CT District 4 to explore all All Star team opportunities for our stellar players. This will likely include District play at the 10U, 11U and 12U levels. This may also include play beyond the district up to the State Championship level for 12U only.  CT District 4, as always, will likely also hold its Seabreeze tournament for the 8U, 10U, 11U and 12U levels.  More information regarding these opportunities at a later date once the season gets going and the State/Local Little League picture regarding participation becomes more clear.
